Breathe and Be

I am so excited to post the first art project of my new grade 3 students. We read one of the poems in Breathe and Be: A Book of Minfulness Poems by Kate Coombs as part of our ELA unit on learning journeys. The students then did the exercise of observing their thoughts as they come without engaging with them. Easier said then done, but a great way to learn how to let go of anxiety causing thoughts. Afterwards, the students wrote in a fish one word to represent one thought they observed during the activity. They used their watercolor set to decorate the fish. They are now part of a mural in the upstairs hallway.
