In Teacup, a young boy has "to leave his home... to find another." He brings with him a teacup filled with "earth from where he used to play." Throughout his personal journey, his teacup, filled with this symbol of his childhood, supports and protects him. This book is an allegory about the reality of growing up and having to leave ones home in order to find a new one. The students made a watercolor illustration of what they would bring in their teacup on this journey. They had to choose an element of their childhood that is important to them. They then selected a symbolic object to bring in their teacup.
