Today we participated in Moose Jaw's Tintamarre and Fransaskois flag raising ceremony. The tradition of the Tintamarre started in New Brunswick as a reaction to the deportation of Acadians. You march down the streets while making as much noise as possible to claim to the town "On est ici!" (We are here!). For us it is a way to show Moose Jaw residents that some of us speak French.
Our class had the great honour of representing our school Palliser Heights at the flag raising ceremony. We performed a French Canadian dance that explains French Canadian traditions around New Year's Eve. Congratulations to all the students today.
